  • Road to Independence (RTI) To apply for this one must be 17-21 years old, have spent at least 6 months in foster care prior to your 18th birthday, have lived in foster care or Independent living program or been adopted or placed with a relative after turning 16, be a Florida resident, and be enrolled in school fulltime, or part-time if you have a disability.
  • Temporary Cash Assistance (TCA) A person may qualify for this if they have a child and not much money. One must be a Florida resident, a U.S. citizen, have a SS# or applied for one, have a child under 18 living in the home with you, you are 6 months pregnant and cannot work, or are 9 months pregnant, and have less that $2,000 in assets. Call 1-866-762-2237 or apply at www.myflorida.com/accessflorida/
  • Food Stamps - To qualify for food stamps you must be a U.S citizen, a Florida resident, have a SS#, and have less than $2,000 in assets. Apply online at www.dcf.state.fl.us/ess/ and request an application.
  • SSI - If a child has been getting SSI income while in foster care, this may have been put into a Master Trust. When turning 18, you are eligible for this money, unless it has been used over the years for your care. One can also continue to get SSI as an adult, but this must be applied for and is more difficult to get. Remember if one gets over $2,000 in assets, you do not qualify for SSI, however you may be able to put some of the money into a separate account. To find out about this, please contact http://www.socialsecurity.gov One can also call the Social Security Administration office at 800-772-1213.
  • WIC (Women, Infants and Children)  WIC is a program for women who are pregnant or breastfeeding, as well as children under the age of 5. To receive these benefits you must meet the WIC guidelines or currently receive Medicaid, TCA or food stamps. To apply call the WIC office at 800-342-3556 and set up an appointment.
  • Youth Connect program - WorkNet Pinellas, in conjunction with the Pinellas Education Foundation, offers Youth Connect Program services for youth between the ages of 14 and 21 years. Youth Skills is designed to provide a range of services and resources to assist qualified youth to enroll and successfully complete educational and training programs.   The program services are free of charge, some of which may include career counseling, assistance with educational costs, alternative education, school drop out prevention and job placement services.
